QUARTERLY PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS: Q3 INSIGHTS
Goodbye, Q3! You were a wild ride, a blur of deadlines, and a questionable amount of caffeine. May you rest in peace!
A Power-Surge Economy: Key Trends from Q3 2025
The third quarter of 2025 was a high-voltage period for the global energy sector, marked by a surge in demand, a dynamic supply mix, and geopolitical headwinds. Here’s a quick look at the major trend that shaped the quarter.
The AI-Powered Demand Boom
The most significant trend has been the explosive growth in electricity demand, driven largely by the proliferation of new data centers and the AI revolution. These facilities are incredibly power-intensive, creating an unprecedented and sustained need for more energy. This is propelling global electricity demand to a rate well above the long-term average, especially in the U.S.
As organizations rapidly expand their digital infrastructure, modern power grids are being pushed to their operational limits, particularly in regions with dense clusters of hyper scale data centers. The surge is not merely a spike—it’s a fundamental, sustained shift in consumption patterns, fueled by the relentless expansion of cloud computing, machine learning applications, and the evolving industrial internet of things.
For plant operators and utility leaders, this means the stakes are higher than ever: ensuring uninterrupted power, fortifying grid resilience, and scaling workforces to manage the complexity of round-the-clock, high-intensity energy use. The urgency to source skilled operations and maintenance talent has intensified, as facilities navigate this new era of electrification and digital growth.
QUARTER 3 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHTS
We’re proud to highlight the dedication and growth of our team, starting with Zach Lutjen, a member of our Corporate APS family. Zach began his journey with us as a Recruiter and has since advanced along with recruiting into a vital role as a Safety Professional.

From Talent Scout to Safety Leader
Over the past two years, Zach has proven to be an indispensable asset, seamlessly transitioning from his role as a Recruiter into a vital Safety Specialist. This shift allowed him to pursue his passion for people by having a “more direct impact on the ground, helping crews stay safe and proactively preventing incidents.”
Zach’s experience in the Army National Guard instilled a powerful ethos where “everyone is responsible for each other,” giving him a natural ability to connect with our field personnel. He leverages his recruiting background—which taught him to seek out individuals with “the right mindset for the jobsite”—to build a strong safety culture from the ground up.
Proactive Safety: A Philosophy of Trust
Zach’s safety leadership is defined by trust and proactive engagement. “Safety isn’t about catching people doing something wrong,” he states. “It’s about building a culture where everyone looks out for each other.” He approaches safety just like recruiting: anticipating needs and getting ahead of the curve. He is dedicated to “spotting trends early, talking with crews, and addressing hazards before they turn into incidents,” ensuring we meet our shared goal of “getting people home safe and setting them up for success.”

We are thrilled to celebrate the dedication and hard work of Noe Vazquez, one of our APS Site Safety Representatives! Noe has spent his entire career in the field, giving him the essential, ground-level understanding of every job we do. What truly sets his achievement apart is his commitment to growth: Noe earned his transition to safety by completing all of his required safety training and certifications after work hours—demonstrating incredible personal sacrifice to advance his skills.

Field Expertise and Dedication
Noe Vazquez is a safety professional whose approach is built on years of hands-on construction leadership in critical trades like carpentry, rod busting, and concrete finishing. His exceptional commitment to safety is evident in the fact that he pursued advanced NCCER safety certifications (CSST, CSSS, CSSO) at night after working demanding 12-hour shifts. Noe leverages this deep practical knowledge to be a true proactive leader, expertly reading and interpreting blueprints and essential safety documents like JSAs and permits to ensure compliance from the planning stage onward.
Safety Leadership and Mindset
Noe’s leadership philosophy centers on education and prevention. He doesn’t just supervise; he actively manages and directs crews by “coaching them on the proper safety and operation procedures.” This approach allows him to consistently oversee high-risk tasks, including hot work, confined spaces, and excavations. Noe focuses on solving problems safely and efficiently, dedicating his efforts to identifying and eliminating hazards and creating detailed safety/production plans to meet project deadlines. His ability to foster a productive team environment while prioritizing well-being makes him an invaluable asset.
