Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Welding & Fitting

Perform welding using processes such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).
Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), isometric drawings, and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
Prepare pipe ends and surfaces for welding.
Perform basic fitting tasks before final welding.

Quality Control

Inspect visually for defects (porosity, undercutting, slag inclusions, lack of fusion).
Prepare welds for Non-Destructive Examination (NDE).

Maintenance & Documentation

Maintain welding equipment, tools, and consumables.
Complete documentation as required.

Safety

Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow lockout-tagout procedures.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
Completion of a certified welding program or apprenticeship is highly preferred.
Pipe welding certifications for processes and positions (6G preferred).

Experience pipe welding in an industrial setting.
Experience working on high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) systems within the power generation, oil & gas, or petrochemical sectors.

Proficiency in GTAW (TIG) for root passes and SMAW (Stick) for fill and cap passes on pipe.
Expert ability to weld in all positions, especially fixed positions (5G and 6G).
Strong knowledge of metallurgy related to common power and energy piping materials.
Solid understanding of welding quality control processes and relevant industry codes.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-craft team.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
