A steam turbine technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of steam turbines and associated equipment. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the power generation facility.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform routine maintenance and inspections on steam turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot issues; implement effective repairs.
Execute major and minor overhauls and outages.

Collaboration

Collaborate with technical staff to optimize equipment performance and improve reliability.
Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency situations.

Documentation

Document maintenance and repair activities.

Safety

Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow lockout-tagout procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Associate’s degree in a technical field (e.g., mechanical technology, power generation) is preferred.
Hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of steam turbines or other large rotating machinery, ideally in a power plant or heavy industrial setting.
Strong knowledge of steam turbine principles and operation.
Proficiency in technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Experience with rigging, heavy lifting, and using overhead cranes.
Familiarity with vibration analysis and other predictive maintenance techniques.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
