The shift supervisor (GT plant) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the gas turbine (GT) power plant during their assigned shift. This leadership role oversees all plant operations and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and operational protocols.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Team Management & Leadership

Direct and coordinate the daily activities of the plant.
Supervise, train, and mentor a team of plant operators and technicians.
Serve as the on-site incident commander during emergencies.

Maintenance & Operational Efficiency

Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
Respond to equipment malfunctions and operational issues.
Monitor key plant performance indicators.
Make adjustments to optimize plant performance

Compliance

Ensure that the plant complies with all applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Conduct regular safety briefings and audits.

Documentation & Reporting

Document shift activities and report on key performance indicators.

Safety

Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, such as Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, is preferred.
Experience in power plant operations, in a supervisory or lead operator role.
In-depth knowledge of gas turbine engines, generators, and associated plant equipment.
Proficiency with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and other plant control software.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
The ability to make critical decisions under pressure and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Relevant certifications, such as a Power Plant Operator’s license, are desirable.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
