Job Overview

An owner’s rep is the primary advocate and trusted advisor for the project owner, overseeing all phases of large-scale capital projects within the Power and Energy sector. This role is responsible for ensuring that the project is delivered on time, within budget, to the highest quality standards, and in alignment with the owner’s strategic business objectives, regulatory requirements, and technical specifications.

As an owner’s rep with APS Solutions, you will serve as the on-site representative for our clients in the dynamic power and energy industry, which includes fossil fuel, nuclear, and renewable projects. You will oversee the project lifecycle, from initial planning and design review through construction, commissioning, and final closeout. Additionally, you will act as the central point of contact and liaison between the owner and all project stakeholders.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Project Oversight

Serve as the owner’s “eyes and ears” on the project, protecting the owner’s interests at all times.
Develop and manage the Master Project Schedule.
Oversee the project budget and manage change order processes.
Identify, assess, and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the design specifications, quality standards, and industry codes and regulations.

Stakeholder Communication

Facilitate clear, consistent, and effective communication between the owner and all stakeholders.
Provide regular status reports to the owner and executive leadership.
Act as a neutral facilitator to resolve conflicts and claims.

Contract Management

Assist owner in the selection, negotiation, and contracting of key service providers.
Review and enforce contract terms, scopes of work, and obligations of contracted parties.
Oversee and review designs, specifications, and documentation to ensure integrity and adherence to the owner’s requirements.

Pre-Construction & Closeout

Participate in project initiation, due diligence, and feasibility studies.
Ensure all necessary permits, regulatory approvals, and compliance documentation are secured and maintained.
Oversee the commissioning, start-up, and final turnover process.

Safety

Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow lockout-tagout procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural) or Construction Management.
Experience in managing large-scale capital projects, as an Owner’s Representative, Project Manager, or Construction Manager within the Power and Energy industry.
Deep understanding of the technical aspects of power or energy systems.
Proven expertise in project management principles, including scheduling (P6/MS Project), budgeting, cost control, and risk analysis.
Exceptional negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proven ability to lead, influence, and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
PMP or relevant certifications are preferred.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
