The outage manager is a senior-level position responsible for the comprehensive planning, execution, and closeout of all planned and emergent outages at a power generation facility. This role is crucial for ensuring that all maintenance, repairs, and upgrades are completed to maximize plant reliability and minimize downtime.

Working as an outage manager with APS Solutions, you will lead the entire lifecycle of a plant outage. This involves strategic planning to define the scope and budget, leading a large, cross-functional team during the event, and directing on-site outage execution to ensure all maintenance and upgrades are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Planning & Execution

Develop and oversee detailed outage plans, including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Execute plans and direct all on-site outage activities.

Leadership & Management

Lead and manage a team of employees and contractors, including maintenance, engineering, and operations personnel.
Manage the outage budget and implement cost-saving measures to ensure the project is completed within financial targets.
Oversee the selection, contracting, and performance of third-party vendors and contractors.
Champion a safety-first culture and ensure work is performed in strict adherence to company safety policies and regulatory standards.

Collaboration

Serve as the primary point of contact for all outage-related communications.
Provide regular updates to all stakeholders.

Process Improvement

Conduct post-outage reviews to identify areas for improvement.
Implement revised best practices for future outages.

Safety

Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field.
Experience in the power generation or heavy industrial industry, in a supervisory or management role related to outage planning and execution.
Strong knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance, and safety protocols.
Proficiency with Project Management software and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive under pressure and lead effectively in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is highly desirable.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
