Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Safety Plans & Strategies

Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans to protect workers, the public, and the environment.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimize the potential for incidents or accidents.

Compliance & Reporting

Monitor and enforce compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and permit requirements.

Investigate and report on any EH&S related incidents or concerns.

Collaboration & Training

Collaborate with plant management, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure seamless coordination and compliance.
Provide training and guidance to plant personnel on EH&S best practices.

Safety

Perform safety related job functions as noted above.
Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
Background in power plant operations, environmental health and safety, and project management.
Experience working as an EH&S Specialist or Coordinator in a power generation or industrial setting.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification preferred.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant EH&S regulations and standards.

Requirements

Basic computer skills.

Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
