Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Planning & Coordination

Develop and implement mechanical construction and startup plans.
Coordinate with other disciplines, including electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering.
Identify and mitigate potential risks.

Installation & Oversight

Oversee the installation of mechanical equipment, piping, and HVAC systems.
Align and balance rotating equipment.

Testing & Commissioning

Perform system functional tests and performance testing.

Problem Solving & Technical Support

Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical system issues.
Provide technical guidance and support to the construction and startup teams.

Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and document construction and startup progress.

Safety

Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
10+ years of experience in mechanical construction and startup.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and heat exchangers.
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and mechanical drawings.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.

Technical certifications in mechanical engineering or related fields.
Experience with specific mechanical equipment and systems.
Knowledge of ASME codes and standards.

Requirements

Basic computer skills.

Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
