Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Inspection of Mechanical Components

Visually inspect welds, joints, and other connections.
Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) to assess material integrity.
Verify compliance with mechanical codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).
Inspect mechanical installations, including piping systems, pressure vessels, and structural steel.

Quality Assurance

Develop and implement quality control plans.
Monitor welding procedures and techniques.
Review welding procedures and specifications.
Identify and address quality issues.
Document inspection findings and issue reports.

Technical Support

Provide technical advice and guidance to welding personnel.
Troubleshoot welding problems and recommend solutions.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry standards and technologies.

Safety

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Enforce safety regulations and procedures.
Conduct safety inspections and training.
Address safety hazards and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
Extensive experience in mechanical inspection and quality control.
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and codes.
Knowledge of welding techniques and NDT methods.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Experience in power plant, petrochemical, or other industrial settings.
Knowledge of specific industry standards (e.g., ASME, API).
Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Requirements

Basic computer skills.

Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.

Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
