I&C Commissioning Technician Job Overview

Instrumentation and Control Technicians play a critical role in the successful launch of power plant projects. As an I&C specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless integration and optimal performance of complex instrumentation, control, and electrical systems.

This highly specialized role demands a meticulous approach and a deep understanding of these intricate systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in guaranteeing the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the entire power plant, contributing significantly to the success of the project.

Job Functions & Qualifications

Essential Job Functions

Install and configure I&C equipment: Install and configure various devices, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, and human-machine interfaces (HMIs).
Test and calibrate I&C systems: Conduct functional tests and calibrate equipment to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
Commissioning of I&C systems: Coordinate the startup and integration of I&C systems into the overall system.
Troubleshoot and resolve I&C issues: Identify and resolve problems with equipment and systems.
Document commissioning activities: Create detailed reports and documentation to support the project.
Adhere to safety protocols: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.

Qualifications

Technical or vocational training in instrumentation, control, or electrical engineering.
Experience working in power plants or related projects.
Strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of I&C systems and equipment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.

Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
