Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Welding & Pipe Fitting

Perform combination welding on small- and large-bore piping systems, focusing on root, hot, fill, and cap passes.
Fit pipe sections, including measuring, cutting, beveling, grinding, and aligning pipe and fittings to ensure proper joint geometry before welding.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Execute welds that pass visual, non-destructive examination (NDE), and radiographic (RT) testing requirements.
Operate and maintain welding machines, torches, grinders, and other associated tools in a safe and efficient working condition.
Participate in pre-job hazard assessments (JHAs) and safety meetings.

Teamwork

Collaborate effectively with other craft professionals to maintain project schedules and quality standards.

Safety

Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow lockout-tagout procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience as a pipe welder, preferably in industrial, power plant, refinery, or chemical plant settings.
Current or previously certified in relevant welding procedures.
Expert-level ability to weld using TIG (GTAW) for root passes.
Proficiency in Stick (SMAW) and/or FCAW for fill and cap passes.
Strong math and mechanical aptitude to calculate pipe offsets, rolling offsets, and understand geometric relationships.
Proficiency with complex blueprints, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and field sketches.

Prior experience with high-pressure steam systems or boiler tubes is preferred.
OSHA certification preferred.
Experience with pre-heat and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) processes is a plus.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
