Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Fabrication

- Lay out, cut, and shape metal components for boiler construction.

- Assemble and weld boiler sections.
- Install tubes, headers, and other components.
- Perform fit-up and tack welding.

Installation

- Erect and install boilers in various settings, such as power plants, refineries, and industrial facilities.
- Align and bolt components together.
- Connect piping and valves to the boiler.
- Perform field welding as needed.

Repair and Maintenance

- Inspect boilers for damage, corrosion, or wear.
- Repair damaged components using welding, cutting, and grinding techniques.
- Replace worn-out parts.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubrication.

Quality Assurance

- Ensure all work meets quality standards and codes.
- Conduct quality inspections and tests.
- Document work performed.

Safety

Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Follow lockout-tagout procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Journeyman Boilermaker certification.
Extensive experience in boiler fabrication and installation.
Strong knowledge of welding techniques (e.g. TIG, MIG, oxy-fuel).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding diagrams.
Physical fitness to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.
Strong attention to detail and precision.
Knowledge of boiler codes and standards (e.g. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code).
Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
Ability to operate heavy equipment, such as cranes and forklifts.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.

Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
