Boiler Tube Welding Job Overview

Job Functions & Qualifications
Essential Job Functions
Welding
- Utilize various welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG, oxy-fuel) to join boiler tubes.
- Prepare and cutting tube ends to ensure proper fit.
- Set up and adjusting welding equipment.
- Weld tubes to headers, drums, and other components.
Repair and Maintenance
- Inspect boiler tubes for defects, corrosion, or damage.
- Repair damaged tubes by welding or other methods.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and inspecting equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve welding issues.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure welds meet quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) as required.
- Document welding procedures and inspection results.
Safety
- Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow lockout-tagout procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified welder with relevant certifications (e.g., AWS, ASME).
- Extensive experience in boiler tube welding.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding diagrams.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Physical fitness to work in demanding environments.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Additional Skills (Preferred)
- Experience with boiler maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of boiler codes and standards.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.

- Valid jurisdictional driver license.
- Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
- Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
