An ROCC (Regional Operating Control Center) control room operator plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and stability of the electrical grid. As an ROCC control room operator, you will be a crucial member of our team responsible for the real-time monitoring, control, and operation of a significant portion of the electrical power grid. You will utilize sophisticated SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and communication networks to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient transmission of electricity across our service territory. Responsibilities & Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

Operational Control

Continuously monitor the status of the power grid, including voltage levels, power flows, equipment status, and alarm conditions, utilizing SCADA and other monitoring tools.
Execute switching procedures, adjust generation output, and control transmission equipment remotely to maintain system stability.
Monitor and manage system load to ensure adequate generation capacity and maintain frequency within acceptable limits.
Monitor and regulate voltage levels across the transmission system to ensure reliable power delivery.

Emergency Response & Safety

Monitor and respond to physical and cyber security events that could impact grid operations.
Identify, analyze, and respond effectively to system disturbances, outages, and emergency situations, following established protocols and procedures to minimize impact and restore service.
Strictly adhere to established operating procedures, emergency protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Prioritize safety in all operational activities, adhering to regulations and promoting a safety-conscious work environment.

Reporting

Maintain accurate and detailed logs of system events, operational actions, and communications.
Prepare reports as required.

Training & Collaboration

Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance knowledge of power systems, operating procedures, and new technologies.
Maintain clear and concise communication with all stakeholders regarding system conditions, operational changes, and emergency events.

Safety

Adhere to safety regulations and procedures.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

B.S. in Engineering or related discipline preferred or equivalent military (i.e. Navy Nuclear) or industry experience.
Proven experience in control center operations, preferably for renewable energy assets.
Wind power experience (field or control center) is a plus.
Familiarity with NERC standards and impact on operations.
Familiarity with the maintenance of solar, Solar+Storage, stand-alone storage (battery) and wind generation assets.
Competency in plant processes, electrical and SCADA systems.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to manage critical situations.
Ability to thrive within a small, agile and fast-growing team.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds.

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.
Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
