Essential Job Functions

Starting, stopping, and monitoring turbines: Ensuring smooth operation and preventing equipment damage.
Adjusting turbine settings: Optimizing efficiency and power output based on demand.
Inspecting and maintaining turbines: Conducting regular checks and performing maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns.
Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions: Identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent: A solid foundation in math and science is beneficial.
Technical or vocational training: Programs in power plant technology or electrical engineering can provide valuable skills.
On-the-job training: Many power plants offer apprenticeship or training programs to develop turbine operator expertise.
Certifications: Obtaining certifications like the Power Plant Operator Certification (PPOC) can demonstrate your knowledge and skills.

Job Requirements for Every APS Assignment

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.

Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
