Plant Mechanic Job Overview

Working as an operations and maintenance plant mechanic, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery within an industrial plant. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the facility.

This role is essential for the smooth and efficient operation of industrial facilities. Your expertise and skills are crucial for maintaining the performance and safety of the equipment.

Job Functions & Qualifications

Essential Job Functions

Inspecting and maintaining machinery: Conducting regular checks and preventative maintenance on equipment such as pumps, motors, conveyors, and compressors.
Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical issues: Diagnosing and resolving problems to minimize downtime.
Installing and replacing parts: Replacing worn or damaged components, following manufacturer specifications.
Adhering to safety protocols: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
Working with other technicians: Collaborating with electrical, instrumentation, and control technicians to coordinate maintenance activities.

Qualifications

Technical or vocational training in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Experience working in an industrial plant environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and safety awareness.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Job Requirements for Every APS Assignment

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.

Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
