Power Plant Startup Manager Job Overview

As power plant startup manager, you will utilize your leadership, technical and project management skills to oversee the successful startup and commissioning of new power plants or major equipment installations.

This role works closely with various teams, including engineers, technicians, and operations personnel.

Startup managers play a crucial role in the successful implementation of new power plants. Your expertise and leadership are essential for ensuring a smooth and efficient transition to full operation.

Job Functions & Qualifications

Essential Job Functions

Developing project plans: Creating detailed schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
Coordinating project teams: Leading and managing teams of engineers, contractors, and other specialists involved in the project.
Managing project scope and budget: Ensuring that the project stays within the defined scope and budget.
Monitoring progress: Tracking project milestones and deliverables to ensure timely completion.
Resolving issues and conflicts: Identifying and addressing problems that may arise during the project.
Communicating with stakeholders: Providing regular updates to management, investors, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
Several years of experience in power plant construction or project management.
Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
Knowledge of power plant systems and equipment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.

Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
