Pipe fitter Job Overview

You will work with a variety of materials, including metal, plastic, and fiberglass, to create and maintain pipelines for various purposes, such as water supply, waste removal, and industrial processes.

Job Functions & Qualifications

Essential Job Functions

Reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams: Understanding the layout and specifications of piping systems.
Cutting, fitting, and assembling pipes: Using various tools and techniques to create and connect pipe sections.
Installing valves, fittings, and fixtures: Attaching components to the piping system.
Testing and inspecting pipelines: Ensuring that the system is leak-free and operates properly.
Maintaining and repairing piping systems: Identifying and addressing problems with existing pipelines.
Adhering to safety regulations: Following industry standards and guidelines to prevent accidents.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a pipefitting apprenticeship program.
Strong mechanical and technical skills.
Ability to work with precision and accuracy.
Physical fitness and stamina.

Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Job Requirements for Every APS Assignment

Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints.

Strong organizational skills.

Valid jurisdictional driver license.

Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime.

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, requiring physical activity, including climbing ladders, working at elevations, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds

Ability to work in areas that may be noisy, cold, hot, dirty, and able to wear personal protective equipment.

Ability to meet appropriate physical requirements as determined by corporate Health & Safety Department as prerequisites to perform certain tasks or training activities, for example, pulmonary function testing for respiratory protection, if required.
